Proximity sensors detect the presence of an object without contact. The best-known type of proximity sensor is the inductive proximity sensor. It works on the principle of inductive coupling, which takes place when a changing magnetic field is created by a coil. This coil is shielded from all kinds of electromagnetic interference, but it will respond to a metallic object approaching it.
The E2E-X10Y15 is a 10 millimeter-wide, two-wire type Proximity Sensor from Omron. It is a DC three-wire type inductive sensor, in which the supply voltage is between 8 and 30V.
