Proximity Sensors are devices used to detect the presence of nearby objects without any physical contact. These sensors measure objects’ distance using electromagnetic or acoustic waves. The E2E-X2E15 is a Proximity Sensor from Omron, based on the non-contact detect distance (NCDD) method. Working Principle of E2E-X2E15
The E2E-X2E15 is based on the Nondisruptive Contacted Distance Detect (NCDD) method which uses eddy currents to detect the presence and position of nearby ferromagnetic objects. A transmitting coil sends out a low-frequency alternating magnetic field.
When the Sensor detects a ferromagnetic object, the eddy currents that are generated cause a decrease in the transmitted magnitude of the alternating magnetic field. The Sensor then measures the decrease in the field and converts it to an electrical output signal proportionate to the distance of the object. This output signal can then be used to provide positional information.
The E2E-X2E15 utilizes a learning mode, allowing it to be adjusted to detect targets in all distances. The sensor can detect different objects sizes at different distances, and thus the learning mode allows users to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor to their desired level.
Additionally, for improved output accuracy, this Sensor comes with a manual reset button which can reset the built-in hysteresis to compensate for temperature drift of the sensing range. It also features two sets of LEDs which indicate indoor temperature from -10°C to 70°C.
