The E52-IC50C-N D=12 temperature sensor is an industrial grade digital thermocouple designed for performing high-accuracy temperature measurements. It is composed of two dissimilar metals which produce a small voltage at their joint when heated and can be used to measure the temperature of an object or environment.
The E52-IC50C-N D=12 thermocouple operates according to the principle of the SeebeckEffect. In this effect, a voltage is generated at two ends of a mixed conductor when there is a temperature difference between them. A thin wire-like metal or metal alloy is heated to form the two-conductor junction and when the junction is heated, the thermal energy of the junction causes electrons to move from the high-energy side to the low-energy side of the junction, resulting in a voltage. As the temperature of the junction changes, the voltage produced changes accordingly. The voltage generated is proportional to the temperature difference between the two ends of the conductor.
