An E700 KIT sensor board provides developers with an easy-to-use platform for efficiently measuring a variety of physical parameters, such as temperature, pressure, humidity, etc. This integrated evaluation board is an important tool used in demanding applications, ranging from industrial temperature control to mobile sensing. In addition to providing robust feedback control, the E700 KIT lends greater accuracy when monitoring data from atmospheric or industrial processes.

The board contains a MEMS (microelectromechanical system) inertial measurement unit (IMU), pressure sensors, temperature as well as humidity sensors, Hall effect sensors, plus an infrared irradiance sensor (IR). With these versatile sensing devices on board, the E700 KIT is capable of measuring physical parameters with greater accuracy than discrete solutions.

The pressure sensor, for instance, is used to measure pressure in liquids and gases. The pressure sensor utilizes Wheatstone bridge technology, which is a circuit of four identical resistors arranged in a bridge-like configuration. Each resistor is used to measure the pressure, and the output signal is then amplified and converted to a digital signal. This allows for more precise measurements as compared to discrete solutions.

The humidity sensor works by measuring the vapor pressure within the environment. The sensor utilizes thin-film capacitance technology, which is a layer of thin dielectric material, such as silicon, positioned between two conductive plates. The humidity sensor has an on-chip filter, which helps to reduce the noise and the signal drift from changes in the environmental temperature.

The temperature sensor uses a thermistor, which is a type of resistor that responds to changes in temperature. The thermistor is able to detect small changes in temperature, and produces an output signal which is amplified and converted to digital. The thermistor measures temperature without having to make contact with the target measurement surface.

The Hall effect sensor detects and measures changes in magnetic fields. It utilizes a semiconductor field-effect transistor (FET) or a magneto-resistance effect (MR) element. The Hall effect sensor works by detecting changes in the current that is flowing through the semiconductor material, and the magnitude of the current is proportional to the magnetic field strength. The sensor then produces an output signal, which can be amplified and digitized for more accurate measurements.

The IR irradiance sensor is used to measure the amount of infrared radiation that is present in the environment. It utilizes photodiode technology, which is a semiconductor device that absorbs photons of light and produces an electric current. The photodiode has an on-chip filter, which helps to reduce noise and signal drift from changes in the environmental temperature. The IR irradiance sensor produces an output voltage proportional to the amount of infrared radiation present.

Finally, the E700 KIT also has an IMU, which measures changes in the orientation of the device. The IMU consists of three gyroscopes and three accelerometers, which are used to detect changes in acceleration, orientation, and rotational speeds. This provides developers with an accurate measurement of device orientation and an estimation of the position of the device in space.

The E700 KIT sensor board is an ideal platform for quickly and effectively monitoring and measuring a variety of physical parameters. Its robust and accurate sensors, coupled with the integrated evaluation board, make the E700 KIT an excellent choice for industrial applications and mobile sensing.
