The EA413US evaluation board, designed by Texas Instruments, enables designers to easily evaluate, visualize, and experiment with the power supply of wide-range AC/DC and DC/DC SMPSs. Featuring a variety of inputs, outputs, feedback, and system monitoring, the EA413US offers power system design flexibility and a comprehensive menu of features.
The EA413US board is based on the UCC28950 synchronous rectified secondary-side, single-phase, Constant On-Time (COT) Controller IC and uses a synchronous buck topology. The design employs a two-stage power conversion structure. In the primary stage, the rectified AC is converted to an intermediate DC voltage level by a low-profile power factor correction (PFC) stage, while in the secondary stage, the intermediate DC voltage is down-converted to the desired output voltage in the regulated synchronous buck topology.
The EA413US evaluation board is equipped with three power stages. The first stage is the PFC stage, which integrates a line voltage monitor, off-line PFC, and an output. It also provides the ability to monitor the current, voltage, and power consumed from the PFC stage. This stage has programmable outputs of up to 900V DC for PFC stages. The second stage is the SMPS stage, which includes a buck converter, PWM control section, converter, and output. This stage has programmable outputs of up to 100V DC for SMPS stages. Finally, the LDO stage provides programmable output voltages of up to 5V DC. All three stages are programmable via separate GUI.
The EA413US evaluation board is equipped with numerous features to ensure system stability and reliability. The board is complied with all the industrial safety standards and contains several features for Digital Power System Management (DPMS), including input UVLO protection, output OVP and OCP protection, thermal shutdown, and auto-restart. It also contains several additional features, such as output/input power sequencing, input filter, active current sharing of multiple output stages, as well as a transient suppressor.
The EA413US is available as a complete evaluation kit that contains all the components, guidelines, software, and technical support needed to get started. This evaluation board is an ideal platform for experimenting with wide-range AC/DC and DC/DC SMPSs with its comprehensive menu of features and functions. With the EA413US, designers are able to quickly assess power system design requirements and easily evaluate, visualize, and experiment with the power supply.
