Optical sensors refer to sensors that react to light in the form of radiant energy such as infrared (IR), visible, and ultraviolet (UV). Photo detectors are a type of optical sensor that convert incident light into an electrical signal. Amongst these, a remote receiver (EAIRMIA1) works in a slightly different way. In addition, the optical devices include lenses, a photodiode and other lens assemblies. The photodiode is what captures the infrared light from the lens and converts it into an electrical signal.
The EAIRMIA1 can be programmed for sensitivity and response characteristics. It is designed to reject alternating current signals of frequencies higher than the infrared transmission frequency and thus transmit the signal from the remote control. The frequency of the signal can be adjusted by the controller circuit and the sensitivity of the receiver can be adjusted by changing the ratio of the optical devices. This allows for a better response to the incoming signals.
