Working Principle

The EC09P20V-217’s working principle is based on optical sensing. It utilizes a miniature-scale microelectronic readout head in combination with a two channel system for angular measurement. As the shaft rotates, an infrared light from an LED is proportionally blocked by the encoding disc. The encoding disc splits the output from the LED into two levels, one for each channel of information. These levels are read by the microelectronic readout head and then converted to a digital signal with the help of a photo detector. The information is then sent to the electronics control system.

The EC09P20V-217 is an extremely versatile and reliable encoder. It can provide up to a maximum of 512PPR (Pulses Per Revolution) when used in a two channel system.
