Optical Sensors are often used for a wide range of applications. Among them, Photointerrupters - Slot Type - Logic Outputs have its unique advantages. EE-SX772 is one of these types of Optical Sensors. This article describes its application field and working principle.
The EE-SX772, with its slim dimensions, is ideal for applications with limited space. It has a low profile package, with visible infrared emitting diode and IR-detecting phototransistor in a single package. It can detect object through a slot or aperture with 0.2mm in size, making it ideal for position sensing in small and low-profile equipment, such as micro switches, etc. It can be used to detect when an object is passing through a slot, or when an object is placed in front of the sensor.
In addition, the EE-SX772 is designed with a logic output function. This allows the sensor to detect the presence or absence of an object and output a digital signal which can be incorporated into existing system logic. This makes the EE-SX772 very versatile and can be used for a variety of applications, such as in automotive, medical, and industrial systems.
The EE-SX772 consists of three main components: an infrared emitting diode (IRED), a phototransistor (PT), and a logical processing unit (LPU). IRED emits infrared light, which is detected by PT, and then converted into an electrical signal by the LPU. The signal is then compared with the predetermined reference voltage set by the user, and the output signal is determined accordingly.
When an object is detected, the output signal switches from the low state to the high state. When the object is removed, the output signal switches back to the low state. The sensing range of the EE-SX772 is up to 20mm, and the response time can be adjusted from 10μs to 200μs through the logic parameter. It features excellent edge sharpness and stable performance.
