EK5100-220 is a highly integrated evaluation board designed for use with the Wireless LAN chip RF solution from Intersil. The board supports single chip systems with reduced size, high performance RF transceivers, supported by dedicated development and test tools.The board is designed to allow quick evaluation of the performance, range, and power consumption of existing or newly designed RF systems without the need for external components or circuit boards.EK5100-220 also provides an easy way to set up test scenarios to validate WiFi performance, such as Transmit or Receive Mode, which allows engineers to quickly configure their system to test for various environmental conditions.

EK5100-220 has been designed to provide a complete evaluation platform, which has resulted in its being the first choice for system engineers when testing, debugging or evaluating 802.11 based systems.Users can easily create a variety of RF performance tests including frequency range and power analysis. Additionally, the board can be used to perform receiver sensitivity, TX power, bit error rate measurements and other wireless LAN related measurements.It also provides dedicated connectors for antenna testing, two way data transfer, and external clock measuring.

The core of EK5100-220 is a single chip 300MHz Discrete Transceiver (DTR) from Intersil. This DTR integrated solution provides extreme flexibility, allowing the device to be designed to meet varying requirements.Its RF performance is class leading in terms of transmit range and power, and also features high power efficiency.The board contains a complete set of circuits for controlling and calibrating the device, such as power, voltage regulator, frequency synthesizer, data interface, clocking, and power control.

Intersil\'s EK5100-220 is a versatile evaluation board operating in the 2.4GHz ISM band. It includes a Discrete Transceiver (DTR), an FPGA, and all supporting circuitry necessary to evaluate the performance of the transceiver.The board includes hardware debuggers, as well as a complete set of software drivers and libraries.

The board is capable of performing both unidirectional and bidirectional data transfers. This allows the user to generate and receive data with the board. It also supports two user-specified antennae, allowing both Tx and Rx chains to be tested and calibrated independently.The board also provides connectors for an external clock measuring device, which can measure the phase and frequency of signals and data records during transmission.

When performing test scenarios, the board is capable of generating interference in local WLAN networks, allowing users to measure the effects of different sources and environments on the performance of a system.In addition, the board can be used to measure the energy consumption of a system, allowing engineers to compare and optimize different approaches.The board also supports external data logging for further analysis.
