EL3H7(E)(EA)-VG Application Field and Working PrincipleOptoisolators, or optical isolators, are electronic components used to electrically isolate two components in an electronic circuit. The goal is to ensure that no current is allowed to flow through the circuit, and isolated outputs allow users to have isolated ground lines that can provide further protection from voltage spikes and transients. The EL3H7(E)(EA)-VG optoisolator is a type of transistor, photovoltaic output optoisolator. The EL3H7(E)(EA)-VG optoisolator is designed to provide high-speed, 2500Vrms, isolation and comprises of 4 packages. These packages help in stimulating signal transmission and reception between different electrical circuits. The optoisolator operates in a temperature range of -55°C to +125°C and its forward voltage ranges between 1.5V to 4.5V. It is designed to provide up to 500V/usec transient immunity and up to 1MV/usec ESD immunity. The EL3H7(E)(EA)-VG optoisolator is ideal for use in industrial equipment across a variety of different applications such as motor control, current loop, and telecommunications. These optoisolators are widely used for isolating industrial control signals, providing galvanic isolation between high voltage control and low voltage signal, blocking overvoltage transients, preventing ground loops, and providing protection against electrical noise and surges.The EL3H7(E)(EA)-VG optoisolator uses a special type of transistor called a photovoltaic output transistor. This type of transistor is created using one or more layers of semiconducting material with a photosensitive layer in between. This photosensitive layer absorb light, and the resulting electric current is the output. The EL3H7(E)(EA)-VG optoisolator also has an LED source which sends light that is absorbed by the photosensitive layer.
