Description

The EMI/RFI Filter family of components are used to reduce noise interference between electrical and electronic equipment in a wide variety of applications. The most common type are LC and RC networks, also known as low-pass and high-pass filters. The ELK-E333FA is an example of an EMI/RFI filter that is suitable for use in electronic circuits by providing a low resistance connection between the positive and negative supply rails. The EMI/RFI filter is a combination of inductors, capacitors and resistors that work together to attenuate high frequency noise. It works by creating a resistive path for the noise, which limits the amount of noise that can pass through the circuit. This limits the interference between different components in the circuit, allowing them to operate efficiently without being affected by the noise. The ELK-E333FA EMI/RFI filter is composed of two parts, an input filter and a load circuit. The input filter consists of three inductors, three capacitors, and one resistor. The inductors and capacitors form an LC filter that is effective at stopping the higher frequency noise from passing through. The resistor provides the resistive path, which attenuates the lower frequency noise. The load circuit consists of a capacitor and a resistor that act together to limit the current that can pass through the filter. In addition to its filter components, the ELK-E333FA also features a built-in decoupling circuit. The decoupling circuit is designed to reduce noise from the power supply. It works by suppressing voltage spikes from the supply and providing a stable output voltage. This is especially helpful for sensitive electronic components, such as integrated circuits, which are more sensitive to noise.

Typical application circuit

           Switching power supply output filter:

                           [Rectifier bridge] ───┬── ELK-E333FA ─── Load

                                                                │

└── 100nF ceramic capacitor (high frequency decoupling)

Design considerations

   1. Installation requirements:

       - When bending the pin, it must be ≥3mm away from the body

       - Avoid mechanical stress on the capacitor body

   2. Working environment:

       - Avoid exposure to ozone and ultraviolet rays

       - Do not use in reverse voltage circuits
