This law states that an electric field produces a magnetic field, and a changing magnetic field produces an electric field. This is known as mutual induction.At the core of the ENTUBE QE is a transducer (or transducer assembly) which consists of a ferromagnetic core, an ohmic winding, a capacitive winding and a compensating winding. The ferromagnetic core is a magnetic material that works as a magnetic shield for the windings. This helps to reduce magnetic interference from other sources that may be present in the vicinity. The ohmic winding is a wire coil wound around the ferromagnetic core and connected directly to the power supply line. This is used to measure electrical current flowing through the circuit. The capacitive winding is wound around the ferromagnetic core but is not connected directly to the power supply line; instead it is isolated from it by a dielectric material, usually a mica sheet. The compensating winding is an additional winding of thin wire connected in series with the capacitive winding. This winding is used to cancel out any capacitive effects of the capacitive winding.When the ENTUBE QE transducer is inserted into an operating electrical circuit, the ohmic winding measures the current between the power supply and the load. This information is then amplified and sent to the processor where it is converted into a digital signal proportional to the current flowing in the circuit. The processor then converts this information into a digital signal proportional to the voltage across the circuit.Both the voltage and current signals are multiplied together, resulting in a signal that is directly proportional to the wattage being consumed by the load.
