The EPC9201 is a popular evaluation and demonstration board designed to introduce engineers to a variety of semiconductor components. The EPC9201 was made with the intent to create a platform on which engineers can quickly learn operation principles and effectively applying real-world components.The application field of the EPC9201 includes the self-teaching foundation of, multiplexer and demultiplexer technologies, all devices and communications bus protocols in the System-On-Chip (SOC) or Application Specific Standard Product (ASSP) disciplines. Additionally, the EPC9201 has proved to be a great educational tool for quickly understanding and troubleshooting power semiconductor devices, such as Motor Control, LED lighting, and Solar Energy, among other fields. The board features both an Application Notebook and Experiments Guideline to facilitate learning for engineers of any skill level. The board supports the attempt of discovering and manipulating the real-world performance of the components and typical application of their usage. Furthermore, the board facilitates measuring voltages, currents, waveform simulations, circuit theories, and design considerations for various usage.The working principle of the EPC9201 is based on a rich sound communication architecture to maintain functionality for different System-on-Chip (SOC) or Application Specific Standard Product (ASSP) disciplines. The board uses a three rods extension system to connect with other boards, which allows for dynamic communication between electronic components and systems.At the core of the EPC9201 is a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller, capable of running multiple experiments, applications, and providing adequate processing power for the embedded devices. The board’s communication port is further enhanced with an external memory connection such as a NAND flash, which allows for increased UI performance as the user interface is stored and operated from this memory.The EPC9201 also carries a built-in, On-the-Go (OTG) USB connection, which allows for simple connection to the host PC. The board has a total of 16 contact points (2x8) which enables a direct connection between the board and a standard USB connector. This allows engineers to easily transfer data to and from the board while running experiments.In addition to the microcontroller, the core of the board includes 32 Contacts (2x16) and general-purpose input/output (GPIO). The contacts are used to connect to the auxiliary such as the motors and sensors, while the GPIO’s are used for the task\'s execution. Moreover, the board also supports several Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) for digital signal processing (DSP) and power management applications.The EPC9201 can be exercised in standalone mode, as the board is provided with not only an on-board power supply but also on-board power regulators for additional power.
