Each Macrocell consists of a 16-bit Input Register coupled to a 16-bit Output Register and a Programmable Array Logic (PAL) array. The Input Register allows users to configure the PAL using Joint Test Action Group (JTAG) as well as Altera’s ByteblasterMV programming cable.
The CPLD\'s are organized into two basic tiers. The top tier contains the CPLD\'s macrocell with the Input and Output registers, while the bottom tier contains the PAL array. The Input Register stores the values that need to be loaded into the output registers while the output registers store the results of the PAL program.
The CPLD device\'s macrocell consists of 16 input registers, 16 output registers, and a 16-bit macrocell array that is capable of generating up to 16,384 logic functions. Using the macrocell array, users can create four-input combinatorial functions. They can also create mathematical functions and Shift, Add, Subtract, and Compare functions.
The EPM7064LC44-12 also offers a feature rich development board with several additional components located on-board including 17 PLLs and three micro-controllers. This allows users to work with the device in an integrated manner when performing data processing tasks. This makes it ideal for applications such as data communication, multimedia processing, data logging, and signal processing. In addition the development board includes free Altera ByteblasterMV programming cable to make it easy to program the device.
