Aluminum-polymer capacitors (also known as Aluminum-Polymer-Multi-Layer Capacitors or APML) are the latest generation of aluminum electrolytic capacitors, featuring solid, foldable electrolyte designs, along with low ‘ESR’ (Equivalent Series Resistance) and low leakage current. These capacitors offer many advantages over traditional aluminum electrolytic capacitors, such as a wide temperature range, higher current carrying capacity, higher ripple current ratings, and high surge current ratings.

The aluminum - polymer capacitors ESRE391M0ER-F are specifically designed for the military and defense applications. These capacitors are built using a hybrid dielectric blend of electrolytes consisting of three different polymorphs of inorganic electrolyte, with superior electrical and environmental characteristics compared to traditional electrolytic capacitors.

The ESRE391M0ER-F capacitors are designed to provide higher peak currents and power handling while maintaining a very low ESR. The capacitors provide extremely reliable operation in harsh environments, including high-frequency and high-temperature applications. They also feature superior shock and vibration resistance, and excel in other applications, such as power supplies and motor drives.

The working principle of the aluminum-polymer capacitor ESRE391M0ER-F is the same as traditional aluminum electrolytic capacitors. There are two electrodes with an electrolyte solution spread in between them. An electric field is created by applying an external voltage to the insulator.
