The ESS040E-0900-42 LED Driver is a highly efficient switching Power Supply which is capable of delivering up to 40W of output. It has a built-in MCU which is capable of controlling the light output intensity. It also has a Smart Dimming function which can control the light output intensity by sensing the ambient light. The ESS040E-0900-42 is designed to work over a wide range of input voltages from -20V to -36V and a wide range of temperatures from -20°C to +85°C.The working principle of a LED Driver is quite simple. A small, switch-mode DC-DC converter is used to rectify the AC line power and convert it into a DC output voltage. The switching frequency of this converter is typically in the range of 20kHz-1MHz. The output voltage of the converter is then fed to a power transistor, which is used to control the current through the LED. The ESS040E-0900-42 is capable of providing a maximum current of 9A and a maximum voltage of 36V.
