Tantalum-polymer capacitors, also known as Ta-polymer capacitors, are an important type of capacitor. Generally, they are fabricated using tantalum powder, carbon (graphite), and an anionic solid polymer as the electrolyte. They are widely used in all kinds of electronic equipment, such as communication and consumer electronic products, consumer and industrial computers, digital and analog control devices, and navigation systems. The main feature of tantalum-polymer capacitors is the extremely small size, and they are currently the smallest type of capacitor available in the market. This makes them ideal for use in space-constrained applications.

The ETFP470M5H is a tantalum-polymer capacitor produced by KEMET, a leader in electronic components. It is a wide use form factor capacitor and available in several variants, with capacitance ranging from 1µF to 470µF, and has a tolerance range of ±20%. The ETFP470M5H also has a wide frequency range, up to 100kHz, making it suitable for high-frequency applications, such as radio frequency (RF) and pulse power applications. The ESR of the capacitor is 0.14Ω at 100kHz and85°C, and its inductance is less than 2nH, making it very suitable for high-frequency applications. Moreover, the capacitor has a very low DC bias temperature coefficient, meaning it can be used in high temperature applications without significant capacitance loss.
