The EVL6699-150W-SR is an evaluation board for studying DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) switching mode power supplies (SMPS) with a rated output power of 150W and ±15V with a full input range from 90V to 264V. The EVL6699-150W-SR evaluation board can be used to study and evaluate the performance of the key components in a switching mode power supply including the power switch (MOSFET), inductor, and capacitors.
The design of the EVL6699-150W-SR board includes components that make it easy to operate and provide a high level of protection. It is rated for Class I/II operation with built-in thermal protection, over-current protection, short-circuit protection, and over-voltage protection. This board also includes an adjustable switching frequency and adjustable output voltage and current limit.
The working principle of the EVL6699-150W-SR evaluation board is based on the basic operation of a switching mode power supply. When the power switch (MOSFET) is turned on, current flow is allowed from the negative terminal of the input voltage (Vin) to the positive, forming an inductor-capacitor (L/C) energy storage network. The MOSFET is then turned off and the energy stored in the L/C network is released to the output via the diode rectifier, maintaining the output voltage at the programmed value while dissipating the surplus energy as heat.
