The EVALTAIR05T-5W provides a sophisticated AC/DC off-line switcher for evaluation and reference in designing advanced, low-cost, high-efficiency AC/DC power supplies. It is an easy-to-use, low-cost, AC/DC power-supply evaluation tool for a wide range of applications. This evaluation board is ideal for prototyping or as a reference platform for anyone creating a complete AC/DC power supply design. The Evaluation Board implements a Universal Input AC/DC non-isolated switcher topology. It is powered by an integrated high-efficiency PFC half bridge with a low-EMI zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) rectifier. The rectifier section is followed by a full bridge and a high-frequency resonant LLC converter. The evaluation board features a wide input voltage range of 90 VAC to 265 VAC input voltage, an output power of 5W and a voltage range of 12/24V.

The EVALTAIR05T-5W evaluation board is suitable for a wide range of applications, including DC/DC data security, router & gateway applications, displays, medical, industrial, and consumer appliances. It offers flexible inputs, up to 80% efficiency and a high power density. The evaluation board is also FCC/CE compliant and RoHS compliant.

The working principle of the EVALTAIR05T-5W is based on a sophisticated control algorithm that enables very accurate regulation of the output voltage. The evaluation board uses a phase shift control technique to reduce switching losses and ensure excellent voltage regulation. The input voltage is rectified by the PFC half bridge to give an unregulated DC output, which is then stepped down using the full bridge and a resonant LLC converter. To regulate the output voltage, the control algorithm uses an auto phase-shift control loop and a temperature compensation loop.
