The Texas Instruments EVM430-FR6989 is a comprehensive evaluation and development tool for the MSP430 FRAM wireless microcontroller platform, and it provides standalone compatibility with the Hercules Safety MCUs. The EVM430-FR6989 is an Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits series with high performance standards, offering features such as flexibility, comprehensive system, and support for real-time control. The board is designed to demonstrate and evaluate the features of the MSP430 FRAM microcontroller. Application:The EVM430-FR6989 evaluation board is used for developing applications in various sectors such as automotive, consumer electronics, industrial sectors, medical and security, plus IT segmentation. It has the flexibility to be integrated into any existing platform with or without external power source. It supports a wide range of protocols such as M-Bus, ISO7816/T1, I2C, HDLC, and SPI. For example, it can be used in automotive airbag control system to collect and monitor system temperature and reduce the risk of failure.Working Principle: The working principle of the EVM430-FR6989 Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits is based on the Advanced Emulation and Prototyping Technology (AE/P) that enables evaluation, debugging and test activities on a single board without the need of extra cables and hardware. The EVM430-FR6989 evaluation board features an on-board debugger, an on-board programmer, and LCD interface, providing an all-in-one debugging, emulation and design activation solution. The board enables rapid development of embedded systems that are defect free and energy efficient, and accelerates time-to-market.Features:The EVM430-FR6989 evaluation board provides a comprehensive and feature-rich platform for developing applications targeted at the MSP430 FRAM microcontroller. It includes features such as large memory size, low-power operation, on-board debugging, on-board programmer and LCD user interface, as well as a wide range of safety features. It has serial EEPROM with 1 Kbytes of FRAM and 8 Kbytes of addressable RAM, and the board offers up to 23 GPIOs as well as 10 analog channels for external user peripheral interfacing. In addition, the board features two on-board 32-bit timers, 10 low-power sleep modes, an on-board analog system power supply, a 12-bit ADC, and a 7-segment display. It also includes an integrated touch pad, LCD control, Keyboard control, 5.1kHz audio buffer, and a power-saving integrated NFC support with SPI and USB communication. The board also offers a unique feature, RTC-Calendar, which is integrated into the Microcontroller. This feature allows users to set different time and date options, and the board can be programmed to ID and RFID tasks, allowing users to quickly and easily recognize vehicle users and control access to different parts of the vehicle.The EVM430-FR6989 evaluation board is designed to be used for demonstration, evaluation and development purposes.
