EVPS001 is a comprehensive off-line DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS evaluation board which can be used in accordance with various applications, programming options and power supplies. It can be used as a single, dual- or multi-channel load simulator and battery charger, providing short circuit, over-current and peak voltage protection.

The EVPS001 enables evaluation of advanced control, efficient and lightweight power supply solutions based on buck, buck-boost, flyback and flyback-extended converter topologies. The comprehensive simulation environments for each power supply topology can be configured using built-in panel controls and/or the PC GUI control software. Adjustment of the supported parameters, such as the operating frequency, sampling time, reference and variable voltage, makes it possible to optimally control the converter’s output voltage.

The EVPS001 integrates a MOSFET power stage, which enables precise control over the output current and voltage. The optimal control of the MOSFET gate drive circuitry is ensured by a three-way protection logic, including an over-current and short-circuit protection and peak voltage protection. Additionally, the evaluation board is equipped with integrated current sensing and temperature monitoring. This ensures a safe operation in all applications.

The EVPS001 evaluation board comprises of several different parts, including the power supply sections, the control IC section, the display module, the analog inputs, the connectors, and the system blocks. The power supply section contains the power supply components, such as the DC/DC or AC/DC converter, the voltage reference, the sensing components, current limiting resistors and control circuitry. The control IC section consists of the microcontroller, gate driver ICs, logic ICs and other associated circuitry. The display module includes the user interface and LCD display.

The EVPS001 includes a system block, accommodating all the needed circuitry for the evaluation board operation.
