FDC1004EVM, or evalutaion module, is based on the capacitive sensing technology developed by Texas Instruments Inc. that measures the capacitance change in metal electrodes. This is the only evaluation module that features the in-situ sensing systems and delivers accurate electrostatic capacitive sensing capability. The FDC1004EVM is an ideal tool for controlling and monitoring the capacitive sensing parameters of devices and cables used in commercial, automotive and industrial applications.

To begin with, the FDC1004EVM works by sensing the deformation of a surface due to strain, pressure, or even temperature. It does this by using the electrical force generated by the displacement field that occurs when two metal plates are disturbed. This gives the FDC1004EVM capability to measure changes in capacitance in real-time and offer feedback signals at a faster rate than traditional capacitive-based sensing devices.
