Working Principle

The FLCSM Fiber Optic Connector consists of a number of parts including a male plug and a female receptacle. The male plug is inserted into the female receptacle, creating a reliable physical connection. The interlocking mechanism of the two components enables a secure connection. Both the male and female components have an alignment guide which helps guide the fiber protruding from the plug into the guide channels in the mating receptacle.

To ensure an accurate connection, the connector must provide good axial precision and low insertion loss. When the plug is inserted into the receptacle, the ferrule of the male plug aligns with the guide channels of the female receptacle. A force is applied to the insertion pin of the plug to mate the two components firmly, providing the necessary physical connection. When the insertion pin is retracted the release sleeve is enabled, allowing the plug to be pulled out gently.
