Light pipe, also known as total internal reflection conduit, is a type of fiber optic cable, which provides an insulation pipeline for optical waves, allowing optical signals to be transmitted from one place to another without being affected by external environment. FLXR2ATP12 is a light pipe designed for industry applications. It is mainly used in the fields of data communication, cable television system, digital optical monitoring, home appliance, aircraft, and other heavy industries.
The structure of FLXR2ATP12 consists of two parts, the light-coupled end face and the fluorocarbon tube. The surface of the light-coupled end face is covered with a typical white-coated surface, in order to ensure strong light reflection and sealing of the connecting interface. On the contrary, the fluorocarbon tube provides the high refractive index with strong anti-interference capabilities to ensure good optical transmission efficiency. How does light pipe work? The inner wall of the light pipe is made of a material with a high refractive index (such as fluoroplastic), which guides the light transition from the light entrance to the light exit in a total internal reflection mode. Once the light is applied through the entrance, the light beam is internal reflected by the material interface, and then propagated through the inner walls of the light pipe. This process will repeat until the light beam reaches the light exit.
Thus, with the help of light pipe, the optical signals can be effectively insulated from noise in the external environment. FLXR2ATP12 performs particularly well in ultra-long distance transmission, given the optical wave reaching a distance of up to 10km, and the attenuation of signal loss is not more than 0.3dB/km. Moreover, the characteristic temperature of this light pipe is -20℃ to 180℃, designed for extreme temperature conditions.
