Introduction

FML-G22S is a type of rectifier diodes equipped with metal cases and designed for surface mounting. It mainly applies to DC power supply, or situations which requires steady full wave rectifying process. Equivalent to the traditional packaged diodes, the good heat dissipation, stability feature of this rectifier diode is ideal for industrial and communication fields.

Package Overview

FML-G22S is a package includes two leads, namely Anode and Cathode. This rectifying diode has four plastic modes, outlining its appearance and indicating the pin location of Anode and Cathode. The four modes are Gulem(G), Gmandu (Gm), Muzon (M) with Uni-directional and Gmozu (Gz) with Bi-directional. The distance between two pins is 4.2±0.2mm. The material of FML-G22S is mainly syntactic, with a flammability at UL94V-0 grade.

Electrical Properties

The maximum reverse voltage of the diode is 600V and 1000V for Gulem and Gmandal respectively. The forward voltage across the diode has aMax = 1 V for Gulem, and VFmax = 1.2 V for Gmandal. The maximum forward current is 2A.

Working Principle

The working principle of FML-G22S is based upon the principle of electron flow. In a diode, one side is the P(positive) and the other side is the N(negative). Electrons are flowing from N to P, thus creating the electric current. When voltage applied to the diode is greater than the threshold voltage Vt, the voltage breakdown and stimulates the N-type region to conduct electrons, creating an electric field which drives electrons to the P-type region, causing the electric current to flow from N to P, which is called the forward state. In the forward state, the voltage applied is called the forward voltage.When the voltage applied is lower than the threshold voltage, the diode is in the reversed state. The electric current is blocked in this state, it is known as “reverse breakdown voltage” and it is much lower than the forward voltage.
