Oscillators - FN1660005 Application Field and Working Principle
Oscillators are electronic circuit components used for signal regeneration. The FN1660005 is one of the popular oscillators, which is usually used for frequency stabilization of Frequency Modulated (FM) radio transmission systems. In its simplest form, an oscillator is an electrical network powered by an AC or pulsing source and produces another AC or pulsing signal of a determined frequency-dependent on the input source and the characteristics of the network. In FN1660005, the signal frequency, amplitude and phasing depends on external components connected to its pins. Along with radio frequency stabilization, FN1660005 is also used in many other industries, such as automotive industry, consumer electronics, biomedical engineering and avionics.The working principle of the FN1660005 oscillator is based upon the negative-feedback amplifier that plays an important role in the electronic circuit. Basically, when the oscillator is connected to the power, a sinusoidal puling signal is generated by the oscillator and amplified by the amplifier. The main purpose of this oscillator is to provide an accurate signal of the given frequency. The frequency of the signal is determined by external components, such as capacitors and inductors, that are connected to the pins of the oscillator. The output frequency is equal to the reciprocal of the time taken between the successive waveforms, which is usually called period or cycle time. The frequency of the output signal remain constant regardless of the external components that are connected to it. This is because the oscillator produces negative feedback and the output signal gets amplified. Whenever an output signal is generated, it results in a few changes in the circuit. When any of these changes in the circuit reaches the amplifier, it amplifies the accumulated changes, which results in the regeneration of the output signal. The other important feature of FN1660005 is that it offers a synchronization function. This allows this oscillator to synchronize two different frequencies in cases when one of the two is unstable. The synchronization of two frequencies occurs due to the accumulation of the two signals at the input of the oscillator\'s amplifier. Finally, FN1660005 oscillator can be used as a frequency mixer and as a sine wave generator.
