FP3STST009M is a three-phase sinusoidal current transformer (CTs) for external current measurement with built-in automatic current transformer (ACT) protection. It provides the ability to measure current in high-current ranges with an accuracy of 0.5% or better. The CTs is rated 16A/3A, which allows measurements of up to 400A peak current in the three phases. The FP3STST009M is particularly suitable for monitoring motor drive systems.

The FP3STST009M has an isolated functional core circuit and an integrated protection system. It utilizes non-contact open background current sensing technology to accurately and reliably detect and measure the three-phase mains voltages. This is accomplished by the use of isolated optocouplers inside the CTs. The optocouplers have their opto-electronic components fixed in high-end toroid cores, providing high isolation and noise immunity levels. The opto-electronic components detect the measured electrical signals, which are transmitted as optical signals to the controller.

The CTs also provides an automated Overload and Short-circuit Protection (OSCP) function, which monitors both the over-current and over-voltage conditions. The OSCP can be activated with a single button press, allowing the CTs to detect and protect against potential over-current and over-voltage conditions. The OSCP system can also be configured to Auto-switch off after a defined time, to prevent damage should an over-current or over-voltage occur.

In addition to providing overload and short-circuit protection, the FP3STST009M also features a built-in over-temperature sensor. This sensor detects if the CTs is running at a temperature higher than the upper threshold value. It then automatically sends a shutdown signal to the controller, allowing the user to take corrective action before any further damage is caused. By doing so, the sensing mechanism provides continuous monitoring of the CTs temperature, ensuring that it does not operate at an unsafe temperature.
