FSCM0465RJX is a high performance AC/DC switch mode power supply (SMPS) controller for offline flyback applications. It is suitable for low power adapters and other end products, allowing a designer to create power solutions with high efficiency, low EMI and long product life. The device offers very high integration and can implement the functionality of two devices in the same package, that of a peak current detection controller and MOSFET driver. The internal circuitry monitors the peak current level in a secondary switch and modulates the output voltage to minimize ripple. It also provides protection against overload, overvoltage and over-temperature scenarios. FSCM0465RJX is extremely flexible and offers a wide range of configurable parameters including output voltage, current limit, enable/disable, and over-temperature protection. The user-configurable parameters enable high efficiency operation and/or optimized noise performance. The device also features high peak load current capability and a tight output voltage regulation. Inherently, the device is protected against off-time and pulse accumulation for improved stability. The device also features multiple clock modes allowing the designer to adjust the switching frequency from 30kHz to 1.2MHz. It is available in a tiny 7-pin, 2mm x 2mm MLF-10 package and is specified at a full 10W, with a maximum voltage rating of 30V. The FSCM0465RJX uses primary active power factor correction (PFC) based on a full bridge topology for low harmonic distortion and maximum efficiency. The device incorporates pulse width modulation (PWM) with peak current regulation in the secondary circuit. The device allows for adjustable output voltages and can be configured via external resistors. The output of the PFC stage is the input to a conventional flyback SMPS topology.
