The FSDH321L is a member of the family of integrated circuits from Fairchild Semiconductor that forms part of the company\'s power management integrated circuit (PMIC) product portfolio. It provides highly efficient, low component count, offline switchers and AC/DC "brick" and switching converters. Manufacturers typically use these products to convert the available AC mains supply to a regulated DC output. As an offline switcher and offline converter, the FSDH321L is designed to meet the needs of low output voltage applications with a wide input range for both pre-regulator in SMPS and offline power conversion.The FSDH321L has a wide input voltage range of up to 380VAC and can operate from variable supply voltages from 25VAC to 350VAC. Its low minimum off-time of 1.5us combined with the tight output regulation (typical ± 1.5%) makes it ideal for low power applications such as battery chargers, 1U and 2U servers, LEDs lighting and portable medical systems. It supports various operating modes including Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM), Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and Overvoltage Protection (OVP).The FSDH321L has anon-chip integrated Power Factor Correction (PFC) controller and a Bias PWM/PFM adaptive on-time control circuit. The integrated PFC circuit features a constant on-time control algorithm and operates in a continuous conduction mode. This allows it to achieve a higher power factor and total harmonic distortion. The integrated Bias PWM/PFM adaptive on-time control circuit is capable of reducing stress on components, allowing a higher load current and power efficiency.The FSDH321L has integrated under-voltage lockout (UVLO) and high voltage detection (HV Detection) circuits. The Under-Voltage Lockout feature prevents the device from turning on until the output voltage is above a certain level. The integrated high voltage detection (HV Detection) circuit ensures that the output voltage is higher than the maximum allowable voltage. This feature provides over-voltage protection.The FSDH321L also has anintegrated loop compensation circuitry which provides a fast loop response and stable operation. The device can be programmed to switch frequency from 100kHz overvoltage protection (OVP to 600kHz with propagation delay times of less than 1μs..In summary, the FSDH321L is suitable for low output voltage applications with a wide input voltage range and is used in applications such as battery chargers, 1U and 2U servers, LEDs lighting and portable medical systems.
