FX012

FX012 is a DC DC Switcher Regulator from the PMIC Voltage Regulator family. It consists of a high speed current-mode control, wide Vin range of 1.7V to 6.5V, and has a fine output voltage adjustable range of 0.6V to 5.5V. Its high load current capability, high efficiency and fast loading speed make it suitable for all kinds of application fields.

Application field

Working principle

FX012 consists of a high speed current-mode control and wide Vin range from 1.7V to 6.5V. The output voltage is adjustable from 0.6V to 5.5V. Starting from input voltage, the voltage level is first converted to an operating voltage by a high speed current-mode control. Then, the output voltage is regulated by connecting a power FET to the feedback loop of the current-mode control. The power FET is connected to the output capacitor and passes a steady current to the output. This helps in maintaining the output voltage.The current-mode control monitors the amount of current passing through the power FET and keeps it above a certain threshold. This is done by maintaining the base voltage of the power FET and supplying a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal on the power FET gate. The steady current passing through the power FET induces a voltage across the output capacitor, which helps in maintaining the output voltage.Additionally, the FX012 has a low emission high-speed start-up current source, which limits the amount of input current to a safe level during start-up. This helps in avoiding the surge current from the input source. The FX012 also has an integrated thermal shut-down circuit, which prevents the power FET from over-heating in case of over-temperature.
