The GAL16V8D-10LPNI is an integrated circuit that belongs to the Embedded - CPLDs (Complex Programmable Logic Devices) family. CPLDs utilize macrocells in selecting and designing logic functions. Each macrocell feature four inputs and one output and acts as a 5 input look-up table or a 5 function programmable logic device. A register is used to control the macrocell\'s output, consisting of dedicated flip-flops embedded in theProgrammable Logic Array (PLA). This allows the macrocell to be used as a one-bit flip-flop. The GAL16V8D-10LPNI integrated circuit has an average access time of 70ns and a power dissipation of 0.52W. It operates between the voltage range of 4.5 to 5.5V.
The CPLD integrated circuit also features two special input pins, i.e. High/Low Disable (HD/LD). These two pins are used to control the CPLD’s I/O pins, serving as an input or output, depending on how the chip is programmed. When the HD output is high, all outputs remain low, regardless of their programmed state. When the Low Disable output is high, the outputs remain high regardless of the programmed state.
The GAL16V8D-10LPNI circuit has a combined logic array based on CMOS programmable logic technology. It consists of 16 output pins and a VHDL design stored in an on-chip programmable Flash memory. The VHDL codes stored in this program belongs to the user and can be modified through firmware upgrades. When the circuit is configured, the internal logic macrocells are configured according to the user design, which determines their behavior.
