Non-contact measurement is one of the most effective and accurate methods of measuring temperature. This technique has been widely used in various industrial areas and is increasingly deployed in research and development sectors. In this context, the GGM-WL (Wide Angle Laser Temperature Sensor) has been developed to provide a comprehensive temperature scanning solution. This non-contact method of measurement offers advantages such as increased accuracy, minimal maintenance, low cost and flexibility for use in a variety of applications.

The GGM-WL utilizes two main components – the Wide Angle Laser Temperature Sensor and the associated software. The Wide Angle Laser Temperature Sensor is essentially an infrared thermometer, which works on the principle of heat transfer. A special lens produces a video image, giving a wide temperature field of view which is analyzed by software and used to construct an accurate temperature profile. The software then analyses the data and produces an accurate temperature measurement. The GGM-WL can measure temperatures ranging from -50 °C to 1000 °C with accurate results.

The GGM-WL can be used in three main modes – Scanning, Point-level and Continuous measurement. In Scanning Mode the laser scans the surface of the object and the software then interprets the temperature distribution pattern. Point-level Mode works by measuring the temperature at specific spots on the surface of the object. Continuous Mode works by constantly measuring the temperature of the object, and updating the software to take into account any changes in the temperature. The data produced can then be used to monitor objects such as motors, turbines, cooling units and other industrial equipment, as well as to construct temperature maps for precision research.

The ease of use and versatility of the GGM-WL make it suitable for a multitude of applications. It can be used in the automotive, aeronautic, medical, and food industries, as well as in research and development centres. In the automotive industry, for example, the GGM-WL can be used to monitor the temperature of engine components, engines, exhausts and gearboxes, as well as to detect any overheating which could cause damage. In the food industry, it can be used to check the temperature of food, ensuring it is safe for consumption.

The GGM-WL is fast becoming one of the most popular non-contact temperature measurement systems.
