GMS-63H is a type of miniature circuit breaker developed by Siemens. With a rated current of up to 22A, GMS-63H is suitable for residential and commercial applications, as well as light industrial installations. Additionally, GMS-63H offers protection against both alternating and direct currents. As an efficient and accurate circuit breaker device, GMS-63H can be used to protect a variety of electrical projects such as lighting, heating, motor, or appliance circuits. Other features of GMS-63H include its quick and reliable tripping time in the event of overload or short circuit, as well as its spring-loaded push-to-reset mechanism that makes it easy to reset the tripped switch after the fault is corrected. GMS-63H relies on two core components: the circuit breaker switch and the overcurrent release device. The release device is a thermal element that senses when an overload has occurred, triggering an electrical arc that trips the circuit. This arc also opens the contacts of the switch itself, preventing the current from flowing and allowing the breaker to reset when the overcurrent condition is no longer present. The overcurrent release mechanism in GMS-63H is built into the body of the circuit breaker switch and is one of its most important features. It works by absorbing energy from the circuit, which results in a partial deformation of the device’s internal structure. When the release reaches its maximum operating temperature, it triggers an arc that trips the circuit, offering protection to the system. The release device has two types of operating temperature: Rated Operating Temperature (RT) and Maximum Operating Temperature (MT). In GMS-63H, RT is typically 50 ˚C, while MT can vary from 60 ˚C to 70 ˚C depending on the model. It’s important to note that when the release device is at MT, the circuit is closed. Once the circuit is open, it will remain open until the release cools down and reset. In addition to its overcurrent release device, GMS-63H is also equipped with an adjustable differential trip unit (DTR). The DTR helps to detect if there is an ongoing low-level overcurrent in the system. When the DTR senses an overcurrent, it will trip the circuit and prevent any further damage or potential hazards. Overall, GMS-63H is an efficient and reliable miniature circuit breaker that can be used for a variety of applications. It offers effective protection against overload and short circuits, as well as a quick and reliable trip time. Additionally, its adjustable differential trip unit ensures that any low-level overcurrents in the system will be detected and eliminated efficiently.
