<p>DC-DC converters are used to change a direct current (DC) voltage level, rather than just stepping current up or down like a transformer. To do this, two main types of DC converters are used; isolated and non-isolated. While isolated DC converters are primarily used in power supplies where maximum isolation from the mains is desirable, non-isolated converters are usually employed in small scale applications such as in automotive and telecommunications products. One such non-isolated DC converter is the GQ2540-9RG, a high efficiency converter designed for use in distributed power systems, such as in battery charging applications. <p>The GQ2540-9RG is a synchronous, low input voltage, non-isolated DC converter that supports an input voltage range of 6.5V to 40V. It features frequency synchronisation over a wide range, integrated soft-start and a current monitor for system protection.
