Rocker Switches
Rocker switches are a type of manual electrical switch designed to be activated by rocking it back and forth. Normally, each rocker switch has two or three electrical connections and a neutral area. When the rocker is pushed down, typically one of the two connections is established, and when it is pushed up the other connection is established. Depending on the model, rocker switches can be used with either AC or DC electrical circuits.
GRS-4021C-0001 Application Field and Working Principle
The GRS-4021C-0001 is an example of a rocker switch that is intended for use in medium-voltage AC applications. The unit can be used on circuits with voltage ratings up to 600 Volts AC, and is available in a variety of standard configurations and sizes.
Like all rocker switches, the GRS-4021C-0001 uses mechanically operated contacts to achieve its functionality. These contacts act as a switch inside the device, and when they are activated, they either allow current to flow through the switch or not. When the rocker is in the off or neutral position, no current can flow through the contacts and the switch is in an open state. When the rocker is thrown down into the On position, the contacts are connected and current can flow through the switch. This can be reversed when the rocker is put into the up position.
In addition to its mechanical function, the GRS-4021C-0001 also provides additional protection for the circuitry it is controlling. By connecting the contacts of the switch to a bimetallic strip, the unit is able to protect the circuit from over-voltage and over-current conditions. This helps to ensure the safety of the electrical components, as well as the overall system.
The GRS-4021C-0001 is a popular choice for a variety of applications, from industrial control systems to consumer electronics. Its rugged construction and selectable mechanical features make it well suited for frequent use and long-term reliability.
