Gas Discharge Tube Arresters (GDT) are electrical protective devices that help protect electronic equipment from lightning lightning strikes and other transient overvoltage faults. GDTs are specifically used to limit or suppress voltage of both high-energy lightning impulse and low-energy surges. GTCS26-351M-R05-2 is a Double Trisil Surge Suppressor GDT specifically designed to limit or suppress transient voltage. When the normal working voltage is lower than the nominal voltage of the device, the elecric energy of the system is favorable, so no current will pass through the GDT. When the peak voltage reaches the rated voltage of the GDT, the gas discharge tube will discharge the current and form a low internal resistance path. This process will limit the peaks of the current, thus protecting the circuit and other devices from damage.

When the peak voltage exceeds the rated voltage of the GDT, the Trisil will start conduction at the same time. Since there is a reverse voltage increase during the discharge of the GDT, the Trisil is used to further reduce the reverse voltage and protect the circuit. After the peak voltage cancels out, the Trisil will be cut off and no current will pass through the GDT.
