Proximity sensors are electromagnetic sensing solutions that detect the presence of objects without physical contact. The GX-MK18A-P-Z is a quadrature optical encoder that employs a symmetrical light beam transmission configuration. The GX-MK18A-P-Z has an advanced design consisting of an array of four magnetic coil (MCA) photodiodes. Each photodiode is connected to an electromechanical timer circuit, which is responsible for providing an oscillating pulse output indicating the magnetic field strength. The output frequency generated by the sensor is proportional to the magnetic signal strength. The output signal is then used to detect objects from a distance and provide a precise indication when motion is detected.

The GX-MK18A-P-Z works by using the MCA photodiodes to pick up changes in ambient magnetic fields and then convert these changes into an analog output. This is done by comparing the output voltage of the photodiode to a reference voltage and comparing this result to that of an oscilloscope. The strong magnetic field created by the photo diode will cause the oscilloscope to fluctuate, which can be used to detect any changes in movement.

The GX-MK18A-P-Z is equipped with an electronic control module to regulate the voltage output of the photodiodes and the frequency of the oscilloscope. In addition, the control module is responsible for enabling the sensor to detect changes in the magnetic field when it is in contact with a target. The GX-MK18A-P-Z is also capable of detecting angular or rotational movements.
