Optoisolators, also known as optoisolator couplers, provide electrical insulation between two circuits. They are constructed using multiple components such as an LED, a reflecting surface, a photodiode, and a photosensitive transistor (H11AA1X). This type of isolator is referred to as a transistor-photovoltaic output. The H11AA1X is typically used in applications such as personal computers, logic circuits, motor drives, and medical equipment.

The H11AA1X works by converting optical energy (light) into electrical currents. A light-emitting diode (LED) is injected with an electrical current, which in turn emits light waves. The light waves are then channeled through a reflecting surface and converted into electric current by a photodiode.
