The H24A1 optoisolator (transistor, photovoltaic output) is a device used to electrically isolate two circuits by using light rather than a direct electrical connection. It consists of two parts, an LED (light-emitting diode) and a phototransistor. When connected to an input voltage, the LED turns on and emits light. The light is detected by the phototransistor, which then activates its collector-emitter current, creating a corresponding electrical output.

In addition to providing electrical isolation between circuits, optoisolators also protect against electrical noise generated by one circuit and transmitted to another. This is especially important in the medical and automotive industries, where human safety and sensitive equipment is at stake.

The H24A1 is sensitive to light inputs ranging from UV to IR wavelengths (270-950nm). The maximum allowable reverse voltage of the H24A1 is 6V, and the maximum allowed collector-emitter voltage is 80V.
