Through Hole Resistors

Through hole resistors, also known as leaded resistors, are one of the most widely used types of passive components in electronics devices. A through-hole resistor is designed to deliver precise resistance in a given circuit, and in order to perform this it must have stable and repeatable resistance values. This component is typically composed of a ceramic core with metal wire leads or a flat disk plate with resistance wires soldered onto a ceramic core. The core itself is usually made of a ceramic material and can be designed to provide precise resistance measurements in Ohms, and depending on the environment, it may be designed to tolerate high temperatures or high humidity.

However, H42K32BYA is more than just a Through Hole Resistor; it is a Polyswitch Resettable Fuse, specially designed to work in low voltage environments. It is designed to work with any input voltage ranging from 1.2V to 5 volts and with any output current from 0.2A to 2.5A. The H42K32BYA device works on a principle known as thermal trip, which is the same principle that is used in almost all Polyswitch products. This principle works on the idea that as a current is drawn through the device, the heat generated from the current will cause the device to change its resistance exponentially. As the temperature of the component increases the resistance will start to increase, and as the temperature continues to rise it will eventually reach a threshold temperature which is when the device will trip and the current will be cut off. This ensures that no device or application is over-heated or worse, destroyed by a power surge.

This Polyswitch is also designed with flame retardant material so even if the temperature gets too high, it will not emit hazardous fumes. It is also very important to note that it provides a time delay functionality thus ensuring that if a voltage surge happens, the device will be reset once the current has been reduced below the threshold level. The other advantage of this device is that it has a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C and has a wide frequency range from DC to 3.7 MHz.
