Through Hole Resistors
H878R7BZA is a through hole resistor type, meaning that electrons, when passing through this component, must pass through a hole into a board. These resistors are built from the same components as standard carbon resistors; however, they are built into a metal cylinder and are also known as metal film resistors. As a result, they have a much higher amount of resistance than their basic carbon counterparts.
The H878R7BZA through hole resistance is used mainly for industrial, military and aerospace applications, where a fast response to a changing electrical current is needed. Its high temperature tolerance makes it ideal for the extreme temperatures often reached in these areas, and thus the H878R7BZA is a popular choice for many engineers.
H878R7BZA through hole resistors are primarily used to limit the current that flows through an electrical circuit. This type of resistor is very good at reducing the amount of current that flows through a circuit, helping to control the circuit’s electrical output and reduce the risk of shorts and overloads. It does this by providing a resistance which is higher than the current flowing through the circuit, so that the current is not allowed to exceed the resistor’s resistance level. The resistance provided by the H878R7BZA is extremely stable, even when subjected to changing temperatures or varied levels of current.
Through hole resistors cannot be soldered to a board, like smaller and more common surface mount resistors, so they are mounted to the circuit boards using devices called “through hole sockets”. The socket is placed over the hole in the board and is then soldered to the circuit board, providing a secure connection that can then be plugged into the H878R7BZA resistor. Because of their large size and the fact that they require a socket to be mounted to the board, through hole resistors are generally more expensive than other types of resistors.
The H878R7BZA type of through hole resistor is an excellent choice when stability and precision are needed, and when a fast response time is required. Because of its size, the H878R7BZA helps reduce the risk of short circuits and helps manage the heat associated with extreme temperatures. As with all resistors, however, leakage currents must always be taken into account as these can cause interference with other components or damage the resistor itself.
