HAL573 is a linear sensor IC specifically designed for motor feedback applications. It is designed to detect the linear movement of a motor, measure its range, and control the speed and direction. The HAL573 is part of a family of ICs referred to as Magnetic Sensors, which includes linear, compass, and ICs.
The HAL573 is capable of detecting a linear position in a number of different ways: Analog, PWM, and SSI.
Analog Mode: An Analog Mode is used when the Signal Chain (SC) circuitry needs to be simple. The HAL573 measures the level of the incoming magnetic field and compares it to a predetermined range to determine the linear position. The output of the Analog Mode is a voltage level that is proportional to the input field level. This voltage can then be used to control the motor.
PWM Mode: PWM Mode is used when a more accurate measurement is desired. The HAL573 measures the input field level and then produces a pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal that is proportional to the level of the incoming magnetic field. The outputs of the PWM Mode are used to control the motor.
SSI Mode: SSI Mode is used when an absolution measurement is required. The HAL573 produces an absolute pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal that is proportional to the level of the incoming magnetic field. The PWM signal is then sent to an appropriate processing device for actuation. The SSI Mode is most commonly found in motor feedback applications where a precise position is required for the motor to react.
Working Principle: The HAL573 uses a Hall-effect sensing principle, or a magnetic field-sensing element, to detect linear movement. This is done by applying a magnetic field over a detection gap. This detection gap is placed between the stator and rotor of a motor. A current signal is then output from the rotor that changes with the amount of movement. The signal is then used to calculate the linear position of the rotor.
The HAL573 is designed to detect the level of the magnetic field and then compare it to a predetermined range to determine the linear position of the motor. It is also capable of producing a pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal that is proportional to the field level for more precise measurements.
