The multivibrator is enabled by applying a HIGH level signal to its input. When the signal is LOW, the output will remain LOW until the input is brought HIGH, which will cause the output to go HIGH for a time period of, depending upon the circuit, determined by the resistor and capacitor connected to it.When applied in astable mode, the multivibrator will generate a continuous waveform, alternation between logic 0 and logic 1 levels, much like a square wave.
