HDSP-H8L3 application field and working principle

HDSP-H8L3 is a double digit common-cathode seven segment LED display. It is suitable for industrial-grade display applications such as counters, indicators, frequency meters and power meters. The display device is made up of a red double-digit seven-segment LED display module and an integrated HDSP-H8L3 driver IC, which has been used for pulse control and current drive.

Application fields

1. It can be used in measuring instrumentation equipment such as gasoline pumps, volume flow meters, etc., which require wide-angle, clear and sharp display;

Working principle

The HDSP-H8L3 is a Double Digit Common Cathode 7-Segment LED Display device. When A-G segment anodes and common cathodes of both digits are connected as similar as to a traditional 7-segment LED display, the IC takes up to 8 pulse inputs. 7 of them are connected to A-G segment anodes and the 8th one is connected to both common cathodes of the display. Then a set of 7 x 2 bits is applied to the IC .The IC uses the NPN type logic and implementing I/O logic functions and circuitries. The HDSP-H8L3 outputs a binary coded decimal information to the display in a single instruction cycle and provides 8 basic scanning functions.
