1. Describe

The 820 nm Micro-Link family of components is designed to provide cost-effective, high-performance fiber optic communication links for information systems and industrial applications with link distances up to several kilometers. With the HFBR-24x6Z, a 125 MHz analog receiver, data rates up to 160 MBaud can be achieved. Transmitters and receivers are directly compatible with popular "industry standard" connectors: ST, SMA, SC and FC. They are fully specified in a variety of fiber sizes; including 50/125 µm, 62.5/125 µm, 100/140 µm, and 200 µm. There are many choices of products. For example, a transmitter with improved protection option P shows increased ESD resistance to the pin. The HFBR-141xPxZ integrated solution does this by including a Zener diode in parallel with the LED. The HFBR-14x4Z high power transmitter and HFBR-24x6Z 125 MHz receiver are paired to provide a duplex solution optimized for 100BASE-SX. 100BASE-SX is a Fast Ethernet standard (100 Mb/s) over 850 nm multimode fiber. Evaluation kits are available for ST products including transmitters, receivers, evaluation boards and technical literature.
