The HI5746EVAL1 Evaluation Board is an omni-directional analog to digital converter featuring a solid-state, electro-optic-based design. It is the ideal solution for applications that require high conversion accuracy and resolution. The HI5746EVAL1 features high speed conversion, low power consumption and an efficient design, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
The HI5746EVAL1 Evaluation Board employs a state-of-the-art design, combining a solid-state, electro-optic-based (EO) front-end, multi-bit Sigma Delta pipeline ADCs and programmable gain and offset controls. It features a wide dynamic range and an impressive ± 0.5 LSB INL (integral non linearity) accuracy. The HI5746EVAL1 is available in two versions with differential input channels for 8-bit and 10-bit resolution.
The HI5746EVAL1 Evaluation Board provides superior accuracy and linearity in a variety of applications including: data acquisition, remote sensing, environmental monitoring, fatigue analysis, time and frequency measurement, industrial process control, and medical testing.
The working principle of HI5746EVAL1 board is based on EO-based technology. It uses an array of electro-optical (EO) elements and an array of electrically sensitive opto-electronic devices to convert analog signals into digital values. The EO elements are arranged in a matrix and the electrically sensitive opto-electronic devices are arranged in a line. As the analog signal enters the matrix, the individual EO elements generate a response which is proportional to the input signal, and the integrated responses are transmitted to the opto-electronic devices. The opto-electronic devices convert the responses into digital values which are then converted into a digital signal. This digital signal is then processed further by the internal components of the board.
The HI5746EVAL1 Board uses an array of low-noise, high-speed voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) to increase the conversion accuracy and speed. The VCOs are designed to produce a waveform of alternating zero\'s and ones which is multiplied with the analog signal during conversion. This results in a digital signal with accurate phase information. The board also features a programmable gain and offset control, which allows users to adjust the sensitivity of the converter and reduce any offset errors.
The HI5746EVAL1 board also features host interface circuits, optional cable adaptors and a static calibration memory. The board is capable of accepting input voltages of up to ± 10V and can be operated in either single-ended or differential modes. The board also features a conversion speed of up to 500,000 samples per second. The board is powered by a 12V DC supply and can be used in conjunction with compatible software packages.
