The amplifier core is an externally biased low-power GaN amplifier designed to provide excellent linearity and low noise performance over a wide frequency range. It features a low noise figure of 0.55 dB and a minimum gain of 8dB at the lower gain range. The amplifier core is configured with a power supply input range from 2V to 5V and features a minimum operating temperature of -40°C.The programmable gain control block is made up of five bits of gain control and a 4-bit parallel to serial shift register. Each bit of gain control provides 0.25dB of gain adjustment allowing for a gain control range of 41dB. The shift register allows for automatic sequential control for up to 16 gain settings. The HMC548LP3 also features a built-in mute function for noise suppression.The HMC548LP3 can be configured for multiple signal paths and offers flexibility in implementation. The device has a power up and shut down delay feature to allow for power up sequencing and to reduce the turn-on and turn-off time.
