The HMC5843-EVAL is an evaluation board for the Honeywell HMC5843 three-axis magnet corrosion Sensor. The board allows all of the HMC5843’s features to be evaluated, including its three-axis magnetometer, digitizer, programmable data rate, active and standby modes, and noise reduction capabilities. The HMC5843-EVAL is an ideal tool for product developers needing to quickly evaluate, design, and prototype digital magnetometer-based applications.
In the most popular application field of this evaluation board, HMC5843-EVAL offers an accurate and cost-effective solution to digitize the motion in three-dimensional space, allowing developers to optimize utilization of space in highly compact and energy-efficient applications. This board can also be used to design sensors that use magnetic fields to power small motors in such applications as digital compasses navigation, automotive NED sensing, robotics, gesture recognition, 3D cursor control, and more.
The working principle of the HMC5843-EVAL board is as follows. The board consists of the HMC5843 3-Axis Digital Magnetometer Sensor and an Atmel ATmega8 microcontroller. When the board powers up, it starts a communication with the HMC5843. The microcontroller then reads the magnetometer data over the I²C bus.
