HPDL-1414 Application Field and Working Principle

The HPDL-1414 is a type of displaying module that belongs to the family of LED Character and Numeric displays. This module is used for displaying both numeric and alphanumeric characters in a wide variety of applications from digital signage to automotive instrumentation panels.The HPDL-1414 is built around a four-digit, 0.34” seven-segment numeric display and an additional fifth digit for displaying an arbitrary letter or symbol. As opposed to the classic seven-segment displays, the HPDL-1414 uses a novel asymmetrical segment design that can be used to create the full set of single and double-character alphanumeric characters. In addition to this, the display also features a built-in memory capability, allowing it to store text or symbols which can be recalled with the push of a button.The HPDL-1414 is a highly configurable display that can be adapted to a wide range of applications. It has a wide operating temperature range of -40ºC to 85ºC that makes it suitable for outdoor applications and is capable of withstanding a wide range of humidity levels, including 100% humidity with no condensation. In addition, the display is highly reliable with a rated Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 1.2 million hours.The HPDL-1414 is powered by a single +5 VDC supply, making it ideal for use in battery-powered or other mobile applications. Its display is driven by a 14-pin Microchip PIC16F78, which is responsible for providing the necessary control signals to drive the display segments. The PIC16F78 has a wide range of options for controlling the display which include dimming, multiplexing and individual segment control.The HPDL-1414 is a versatile, easy-to-use display module that can be used in many different applications.
