The HSMS-2850-TR1G is a Silicon PIN Diode RF switch with self-biased high-positioning DC voltage pins. It has low series resistance, low parasitic capacitance and low switching loss, which makes it ideal for a variety of applications in the radio frequency domain. It is widely used in the fields of RF relay switches, cellular service, WLAN applications and RF system test equipment.

The operating frequency range of the HSMS-2850-TR1G is from DC to 18GHz. It requires only 0.2 to 6V DC supply voltage with less than 40mA control current. The switch has a control current of less than 1μA and low charge injection values. It also has excellent isolation and return loss performances, which make it suitable for use in RF systems. In addition, it has high power handling (up to 18W average), low insertion loss of 0.15dB typical at 18GHz, and fast switching speed of less than 1μs.

HSMS-2850-TR1G works by controlling voltage applied to either of two controlling pins, the Self-Biased High-Positioning Voltage pin (SBHP1) or the Self-Biased Low-Positioning Voltage pin (SBLP2). When the voltage is applied to the SBHP pin, the switch opens, and when the voltage is applied to the SBLP pin, the switch closes. By controlling the voltage applied to either of the controlling pins, the switch can be operated at a desired frequency from the DC frequency to 18GHz.

This diode can be used in a variety of radio frequency applications such as cellular service, RF service test equipment and RF relay switches. It is also suitable for use in WLAN applications as it has a low series resistance and high power handling capability. The RF switch can be used in radar systems to switching multiple antennas automatically, as well as in control and measurement equipment, telecommunication systems and navigation systems.
